History of the department Choreography
Based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 4, 2020 No. 4585 “On measures to fundamentally improve the system for training highly qualified personnel in the field of dance art and further develop scientific potential”, the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This resolution emphasizes the need for “increasing the scientific potential of personnel, further developing scientific and creative activities, increasing its efficiency and effectiveness, and widely attracting talented students to this area”, which determines the need for an expanded theoretical study of both world and national dance art. The Department of Choreography was organized in 1974 at the Tashkent State Institute of Culture named after A. Kodiriy at the faculty of “Cultural and Educational Work” and trained specialists in the direction of “Head of a choreographic amateur group”.
The department was headed by a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of Theatrical Arts (GITIS), teacher Khasanov Isroil Ismoilovich. Leading specialists such as R. Dosmetova, T. Tekoev, S. Sh. Burkhanov, I.G. Gorlina, E.Y. Saitova, V. Romanova, A.N. Muminov.
To date, among the most prominent artists and choreographers working at the department are the honored artist K.S. Sagatov, People’s Artists of Uzbekistan B.R. Karieva, K.T.Muminov, Honored аrtists of Uzbekistan, рrofessor U.N. Mukhamedova, , associate professors M.M. Makhmudova, E.Y. Saitova, O. Komarova, M. Magdieva, A.I. Yeshimbetova, R. R. Iskandarova who pass on their knowledge and experience to the younger generation.
Republican and international scientific and practical conferences, creative meetings and master classes with cultural and art figures, specialists from foreign educational institutions are regularly organized. Students of the Department of Choreography are winners and laureates of many prestigious international competitions and festivals.
